The Miners Memorial Park Project is dedicated to the memory of West Virginia's miners.

Henery Russell was one of the many miners who died bravely,
trapped deep inside the Federal No. 3 Mine on April 30, 1927."
The Everettville Historical Association is dedicated to preserving the past of their community. Since 2004, Carol Thorn, the president of the EHA, has been working toward the establishment of a memorial park to remember the estimated 111 miners who died in an explosion on April 30, 1927 at the Federal No. 3 Mine. In April 2008, Consol Energy donated approximately 25 acres of land where this mine once operated to serve as the site of the proposed park. In October 2008, the EHA established a partnership with an interdisciplinary team of scholars from West Virginia University in October 2008. The participants have included representatives from five different departments and programs, including: Landscape Architecture; History; Soil Sciences; Recreation, Parks, and Tourism; History; Design & Merchandising, and Cultural Resource Management.
